When Sabres picked Stiven Sardarian in the third round of the 2021 NHL draft, it was a bit shock for a lot of people. The truth is that Sardarian is really interesting player and Kevyn Adams might put his bet on the fact that Sardarian can become a lady-in-waiting (as we say here in Czech) for another Russian prospect Prokhor Poltapov. Who is Stiven Sardarian? We were able to get in touch with Stiven so you can read a small interview with this you guy.
Stiven, how would you describe yourself as a player? What are your biggest advantages and where do you need to get better?
„I believe my advantage is in good hands, right thinking during the game and understanding with teammates what we want to do on the ice. To answer sedond question – I need to add in every quality aspect. If you want to be a best player – you always need to improve everything on yourself.“
You have playe with Prokhor Poltapov in one team. How is he as a teammate? Do you like to play with him?
„I have played a lot with him and it was very good. All the guys are good in the team.“
Apart from Prokhor the Sabres drafted another 3 other Russian guys. Are you happy that you will not be the lone Russian?
„Yes, I think so.“
You are committed to Univ. of New Hampshire since 2022/2023 season. When do you see possibly yourself taking step into the AHL/NHL? Also where will you play next season?
„I’ll play for Youngstonw Phantoms in USHL next year. I want to play in NHL as soon as possible. When I will be ready for it.“
Have you talked with anybody from the Sabres organisation after the draft? Did you get any instructions?
„We communicate a lot and are always in touch. I am very glad that I’ve got to them.“
Who is your hockey idol and style of which player you like to use in your game?
„My idol is Nikita Kucherov. I like to play a bit like Patrick Kane.“
You recorded 30 points in your first season in MHL. How different is this league in compate to U18 where you played before?
„There are more games in the MHL and so the difference is not particulary evident.“
